On January 4, 2011, Councilman Bob Weiner spoke to the 4th Grade Webelos from Cub Scout Troop 67 in Brandywood Elementary School as a part of their citizenship requirement.  He explained the difference between state and county government as well as his work with Brandywine Hundred civic associations.  Councilman Weiner also highlighted ways the cub scouts can serve their community.  Justin O'Toole, one of the cub scouts, said, "I learned about community service and that we can help by cleaning up parks, adopting a highway, and taking down graffiti."  Councilman Weiner also shared important phone numbers for county services such as the emergency sewer hotline and the park services.  Before departing, he encouraged the boys to continue to play an active role in their community.

Brandywine Town Center Playground Grand Opening - 6/23/10

June 21, 2010

Congratulations to the Citizens Anti-graffiti Brigade Captain Chuck Stirk & Captain Mike Ansul for a successful completion of our most challenging undertaking. Our entire community will forever be appreciative of their selfless commitment to eradicating this scourge upon our beautiful vista.  Please report any tags on the East Penn RR Bridge to our local police. Please also notify Citizen Captain Mike Ansul (302) 378-3389 so that Citizen Captain Chuck Stirk and he can eradicate any new tags immediately.

Councilman Bob Weiner, Senator Michael Katz, Senator Cathy Cloutier and Representative Greg Lavelle each contributed $250 to help finance Brandywine High School’s “Great Bulldog Day”. Additionally, Brandywood Civic Association contributed $70.

Under the leadership of Brandywine High School English teacher M. Dwayne Caldwell, Esq, Brandywine High School organized a field day, called "Great Bulldog Day," as a way of bringing students, faculty, and the community together, to foster school and community spirit on May 21, 2010.

The contributions financed the purchase of tents, game supplies, balloons, eggs, rope, face paint, and prizes, snacks and drinks; made available throughout the day. The funds also were used to rent a dunking machine.

For additional information contact: M. Dwayne Caldwell, Esq., English Teacher, Brandywine High School; martin.caldwell@bsd.k12.de.us; 302-479-1600 ext. 2110 or me.

Government cannot always provide the financial solutions. This was a wonderful opportunity for your public servants and the Brandywood Civic Association to support our students, faculty and community.

"Bob Weiner has done a great job in developing and constantly keeping a watchful eye over the Talley Day County Park and its dog park. I live on Wilson Road directly across the street from the park. I talk to many pet owners who just love the park. Many have told me that it's very relaxing there and they love the fact that their dogs can play together in a secure environment. When Bob walks around the park with his two dogs he stops to say hi to everyone. He certainly deserves credit for a job "well done" and I thank him for that along with so many pet owners. "
