Bob Weiner, New Castle County Council - 2nd District

I believe that the job of a member of New Castle County Council is to make county government work for all of us. For the last 12 years, I have been doing my best to ensure that New Castle County improves the quality of life of all of its citizens, particularly the residents of the 2nd Council District.

During my four terms on New Castle County Council I have brought innovative and creative solutions to the tough problems of our neighborhoods.

I have fought runaway development, worked to revitalize the aging county infrastructure that we rely upon to meet our daily needs and helped to create new recreational facilities.

Community meeting: Proposed public safety system upgrade and its cost to our community.
Monday Oct 27th 6pm - 8:30pm - Brandywine 100 Library

Thank you to all of those who attended Monday's meeting as well as those who emailed or called with their support and suggestions. The resolutions to fund the public safety increase were tabled at the Oct 28th council meeting. It is the general consensus to find additional ways to cut costs and try to find the additional money for public safety during our normal budget process next year. Council must approve a budget by the end of May 2009 so there is time over the next few months to evaluate the options and suggest alternatives. Please continue to contact me with your ideas and comments on our county finances.

Stoltz Development Proposals

Over the last year I have taken a lead organizing our community’s opposition efforts, researching the applicable law, consistently communicating with both New Castle County & DelDOT, and working with our community leadership to develop opposition strategies.

I would like to speak at your next civic association meeting

As your New Castle County Councilman, I would be pleased to speak to your community about timely issues of importance and to address concerns such as land use proposals, public safety, sewers, parks and taxes. I typically speak to each community at least once a year at their annual meeting. I can also invite representatives from the County Department of Land Use, the Office of County Code Enforcement and the New Castle County Police Department to address specific resident concerns.

During my tenure as your 2nd District Councilman [western Brandywine Hundred, portions of Claymont and Greenville], I have successfully fought against overdevelopment and for upgrades to our community's infrastructure, including sewer, drainage and transportation systems. I pride myself on making County government work for you. My Council office and I are always accessible to assist you.

You can contact me via Louis Hinkle, my legislative aide at 302-395-8362 or at lhinkle@nccde.org. I encourage you to visit our New Castle County website: www.nccde.org to learn how our county government works. Please encourage residents to visit my website: www.bobweiner.com to learn what is happening in our community and also to contact me directly.

Please let me know the date, location and time of your meeting so I can schedule my time accordingly. I am not available when County Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings of each month. I look forward to meeting with your residents and you. Thank you and best wishes.

"I have never been as impressed by the actions of an elected official as I have been with Councilman Bob Weiner. Whatever I ask or request, his response is immediate, even if it's something outside his jurisdiction. Bob always takes action or points me in the right direction."
